A Family Affair
Spoke with an aunt on facebook that I haven't spoken to in a while and was telling her about PCOS. She has many of the same symptoms I had. She's making an appointment with her GYN and is going to ask for the test. Proud of her! Told her to pass on the message to her sisters as well. I'm anxious to find out what her doctor tells her.

New Size ...
I keep forgetting to put an important milestone in here!
I have gone from a size 24 to a size 20 since starting this blog. I also found a pair of my old size 18 jeans from the late 1990's, and put them on a hanger as my "goal pants".
I also like how some of my shirts are fitting better.

Am I Jumping To Conclusions?
I hate to assume that my daughter (age 13) also has PCOS but she is starting to show the same signs of the syndrome that I had when I was her age.
First off, the weight gain. Which I don't understand because since changing our diets both my husband and I lost weight, my 15 year old is holding a healthy weight but my 13 year old's weight started ballooning. She has always been a little larger than her sister at the same age, but the doctor tells me she is at a healthy weight. Today she came down in her bathing suit (trying on last summer's clothes to see what we can reuse), and the bathing suit looks better on her this summer than last summer but when she came closer for me to adjust it on her, I noticed her hips and legs are covered with stretch marks from the sudden weight gain. Her thighs are very large. I was stunned. And of course, she is getting a large stomach.
Her stomach has always been round, but most little girls have round bellies and then when they reach puberty, the organs drop and the waist comes in and the roundness goes away. But her roundness seems to be becoming more pronounced.
I had a long talk with her about my suspicions. I explained to her that if she is following in my footsteps then we can go with the known treatments to prevent her from becoming obese like me and prevent her from the diseases that come with being obese. It did upset her. I explained to her that she looks great and this is a health issue, not a weight issue. that the stretch-marks she has are a sign of sudden weight gain, and that sudden weight gain is a sign of PCOS and that we need to be sure this is not the problem. I explained the problem with bleeding and cysts and irregular menses. We decided (her and I) that we would start tracking her periods and I would talk to my doctor about it in August when I go in for my next exam.
I'm just glad I know about it. I wish someone would have told me when I was 13, it would have saved me years of misery. Maybe knowing now can help my daughter sooner. I'm just worried about jumping to conclusions.

Face Changes
I was at a conference the other day and something didn't look right about my face. I thought it was swelling. I asked a colleague if my face looked swollen and she said "Hun, those are your cheekbones, you have them on both sides."
Why does weight show first on the face?
I've also been strength training my upper body because the little bit of weight I have lost is starting to make my upper arms wobble. I did some research and strength training prevents loose skin with weight loss.
I can't believe my new milestone goal is 225!
I'm going shopping today, I need jeans. Mine literally fall off now. I couldn't wear jeans yesterday for our Jeans and Greens day because they are all too big!
